Mammillaria spinosissima Lem. Cactaceae. Columnar body cactus up to 30 cm tall and 10 cm in diameter; tubercles woolly in axils, conical, and dark bluish-green; circular areoles with 20 to 30 whitish radial spines up to 1 cm long and 7 to 15 central spines that are usually reddish. Funnel-shaped flowers, arranged near the apex like a crown, 15-20 mm long and 15 mm in diameter, pink, purple or red. Fruit clavate, 20 mm long, red. Endemic plant of Mexico, it thrives in the states of Morelos, Mexico and Guerrero. It is used as an ornamental plant.
