UN NUEVO REGISTRO PARA MÉXICO DE PLEOPELTIS X SORDIDULA (MAXON EX WEATH. IN WEATH.) MICKEL ET BEITEL, UN HIBRIDO ENTRE PLEOPELTIS ASTROLEPIS (LIEBM.) FOURN. Y PLEOPELTIS FALLAX (SCHLDL. ET CHAM.) MICKEL ET BEITEL. (POLYPODIACEAEPTERIDOPHYTA) EN TLAXCALA,
Abstract
In Tlaxco, Tlaxcala state, México, it was collected an epipetric and epiphytic fern on
pine and oak appeared similar to Pleopeltis.
Weatherby (1927) decribed this plant as
Polypodium sordidulum, he reported three
collects from Veracruz state and he mentioned the possibility to be an hibrid. Mickel
(1987) suggested that some genus allied to
Polypodium hybridize between them. Also
this author made several new combinations
under X Pleopodium (hibrids of
Polypodium and Pleopeltis) and hibrids
between Pleopeltis species, clarified the
putative parentage of the hibrids. Our plant
was reconognized as Pleopeltis X sordidula,
an hybrid of Pleopeltis astrolepis and
Pleopeltis fallax (Mickel, op. cit.), but we
found some differences as absence of
comose rhizome scales; rhizome scales lanceolate, not round and abaxial scales denses,
not sparses. This collect is the discovery of
the new record for Mexico, which was previously only known inVeracruz state, besides this plant was not collected for more
of seventy years.
