INFLUENCIA DE LA PROFUNDIDAD SOBRE LA DISTRIBUCIÓN ESPACIAL Y TEMPORAL DE LABIOMASA EN POBLACIONES DE POTAMOGETON ILLINOENSIS MORONG EN ACUATORIOS CUBANOS
Abstract
An assessment was made of the influence
of depth on spatial and temporal biomass in
Potamogeton illinoensis in five Cuban
reservoirs. Shoots of representative
populations were cut at bottom level and
divided into equal segments from the
bottom to the surface. Leaves and shoots
were segregated and dried at 105°C in order
to obtain the dry weight. There was a
tendency for biomass increase as depth
increased. Biomass of leaves and stems
showed a tendency to increase from the
bottom to the surface, the highest values
for leaves corresponding to the segments
closer to the surface.
