Abstract

A new hybrid fern from Mpio. Mineral de
Chico, Hidalgo, Mexico, is described and
illustrated. Or if the hybrid is already known
from somewhere else but is new to
Mexico,This interesting plant combined
characteristics of Pleopeltis polylepis
(Roemer ex Kunze) T. Moore var. polylepis
(scaly stipes, presence of soral scales or
paraphyses, netted veins) and Polypodium
guttatum Maxon (rhizome scales not
comose, leaves with hydathode pits). It
showed intermediacy between the
suspected parental species in the
gradations of blade division (irregularly
deeply lobed to pinnatifid) and abaxial blade
scales (P. polylepis var. polylepis color and
P. guttatum form).
