Abstract

Buddleja cordata ssp. cordata is a shrub
or tree that is widespread in Mexico. This
study evaluated its propagation and usefulness through macromorphological aspects of germination, seedling development
and wood anatomical characteristics in mature individuals. Seeds took 3 to 5 days to
germinate; 91% germinated at 22ºCwith 50%
humidity and a photoperiod of 12 hours
light-12 hours darkness. Germination and
seedling morphology is described; 95% of
seedlings survived under nursery conditions. Wood was considered appropriate to
produce paper pulp: its fibers have a low
rigidity index and medium flexibility values,
characteristics associated with high resistance to tension force, explosion, tearing
and the passage of water and air.
