Abstract

The aim of this work was to establish the
delimitation of ten species of the genus
Saccobolus on the base of cultural characters,
production and electrophoretic pattern of endo
ß-D-1, 4 glucanase. Monosporic strains of ten
species of the genus were used throughout. The
phenogram obtained from the analysis of
grouping (UPGMA) showed two groups of
species, corresponding to the two sections of
the genus. A high intraspecific homogeneity
was observed, since there were not differences
in
the status of the characters among the
monosporic strains of each geographical
isolates, and not even among different
geographical isolates. The analysis of
phenograms showed a high degree of association among species, which correlates with
morphological observations and physiological behavior of the taxa. The results of this
research support the use of isozyme patterns as
